So you’re a connoisseur of fine dining and lavish brunches, all paired with a touch of cannabis? Experimenting with recipes for craft cocktails that include a hint of THC alongside the bitters? Well, my friend, you are officially vintage – because that was so 2014. The latest trend in the world of marijuana-related businesses is cannabis-infused weddings, and it seems to be taking off in a big way. Just take a look at the smashing success of a certain expo in Colorado over the weekend.

Of course, no story about cannabis in 2017 would be complete without yet another inflated estimate of its market value. According to recent reports, legal cannabis sales reached a whopping $7 billion in 2016, and are projected to surpass $50 billion in the next decade (assuming legalization and Jeff Sessions don’t get in the way). But for now, weddings have cannabis beat by a long shot. In fact, the wedding industry is worth a staggering $53.6 billion a year, according to a 2013 estimate. So it’s no surprise that weed and weddings have found a way to come together.

This unique union has manifested itself in various forms, from a marijuana-friendly wedding chapel in Las Vegas to cannabis-centric wedding planners in Colorado. The latter, feeling snubbed by more traditional (read: cannabis-free) wedding expos, decided to take matters into their own hands and launch their very own event. And thus, the Cannabis Wedding Expo was born.

This past President’s Day weekend marked the second annual running of the expo, and it drew in over 1,000 attendees to a Denver suburb. As reported by Fox-31, these eager guests were eager to learn how to incorporate weed into their special day. But how exactly does one do that, aside from serving a medicated wedding cake or having a dab bar at the reception? While those are both excellent ideas, there are plenty of other ways to infuse cannabis into a wedding, according to Philip Wolf, one of the expo’s creators.

“There are a lot of different ways to incorporate cannabis into weddings, from having hair and makeup artists who are cannabis-friendly, where a bride can smoke a joint beforehand, to full budtending services, to edible chefs,” Wolf explained.

Other weed-friendly wedding solutions include slipping a stick of Sour Diesel into a bride’s bouquet, pinning a nugget onto a groom’s boutonniere, and even dresses made entirely of hemp. And if you’re having trouble making any of these ideas a reality, don’t worry – the vendors at the expo are there to help.

So, have you attended a weed wedding yet? If not, it may only be a matter of time before you do. The marriage of cannabis and weddings is a match made in hipster heaven, and it’s only getting more popular. Who knows, maybe one day we’ll even see a cannabis-themed honeymoon destination. The possibilities are endless.
