TAG Heuer and Hiroshi Fujiwara Unveil Third Collaborative Timepiece: Carrera Chronograph x fragment Limited Edition
TAG Heuer and Hiroshi Fujiwara have joined forces once again to release their third collaborative timepiece, the Carrera Chronograph x fragment Limited Edition. This highly anticipated watch is limited to only 500 pieces and features a sleek monochrome design with subtle fragment motifs.
The “Godfather of Streetwear” Strikes Again
Known as the “Godfather of Streetwear,” Hiroshi Fujiwara brings his minimalist philosophy to the iconic “glassbox” Carrera, fusing Swiss precision with streetwear sensibilities. The 39 mm stainless steel case, domed sapphire crystal, and black-and-white dial create a disciplined aesthetic, while fragment lightning bolt logos add a playful touch at 1 and 11 o’clock.
Less is More: Fujiwara’s Design Approach
In an interview with Hypebeast Japan, Fujiwara explains his design philosophy of restraint and balance. He states, “I don’t want the logo to be too prominent. It’s better if only those who notice it can appreciate it. Watches are seen every day, so just a small sense of ‘discomfort’ is enough.” This approach results in a chronograph that strips away excess, leaving only purposeful elements.
Technical Specifications and Collaborative Details
The Carrera Chronograph x fragment Limited Edition is powered by TAG Heuer’s in-house Calibre TH20-00 automatic movement with 80 hours of power reserve. The movement’s column wheel and vertical clutch are visible through a sapphire caseback, which is engraved with a Victory Wreath as a nod to Jack Heuer’s tradition of gifting gold watches to victorious Formula 1 drivers. The fragment logo is also printed directly onto the crystal, reinforcing the collaboration’s identity. The bracelet features a reworked “beads-of-rice” design with black PVD central links, balancing vintage Carrera heritage with contemporary refinement.
A Philosophy of “Discomfort”
Fujiwara’s design ethos is centered around creating a sense of “discomfort” rather than perfection. He explains, “For me, it’s more about ‘discomfort’ than ‘subtraction.’ I prefer when things are a little off as opposed to something that’s too perfect.” This perspective is evident in the subtle disruptions that add intrigue without overwhelming the original form.
Availability and Pricing
The Carrera Chronograph x fragment Limited Edition is priced at 8,150 CHF (approximately $10,130 USD) and can be purchased through TAG Heuer’s website. It comes presented in a sleek black box with an embossed pouch, emphasizing its collaboration with the “Godfather of Streetwear.”
