LAIAKA Brings Back ParaNorman in 3D with Limited-Edition Nike Collab and Animated Short Film

As the spooky season creeps in, Oregon-based film studio LAIKA is resurrecting the beloved 2012 comedy horror film ParaNorman in a whole new dimension. The Oscar- and BAFTA-nominated film has been remastered in 3D, accompanied by a new short animated film titled The Thrifting.

The film, known for its quirky characters and young protagonist Norman who can communicate with the dead, is celebrating its 13th anniversary. To mark the occasion, LAIKA has teamed up with Nike for a limited-edition collaboration. Thirteen pairs each of the highly coveted Foamposite “Weird Wins” and Air Raid 2 “ParaNorman” were given away in a special promotion that ended on October 13.

Originally released in 2012 as part of ParaNorman’s promotional campaign, the Foamposite “Weird Wins” and Air Raid 2 “ParaNorman” were the perfect canvas to play with the film’s otherworldly themes. These models are extremely rare and one-of-a-kind, making them a must-have for sneaker collectors.

The Air Raid 2 features a black mesh base with a skeleton motif wrapping around the midsole. The upper is adorned with a cross-strapped bone design and oversized green hardware, adding dimension to the electric laces and matching green interior collar. The outer sole is hugged by neon green nubuck overlays, and the heel tag is stamped with “One World” lettering.

As the studio behind hit films like Missing Link, Kubo and the Two Strings, The Boxtrolls, ParaNorman, and Coraline, LAIKA’s collaboration with Nike captures the whimsical energy of ParaNorman. The bold design and pops of neon green make for a playful and mischievous color scheme, perfect for adding a touch of fun to any outfit.

In addition to the re-release of the shoe models, fans can also look forward to The Thrifting, a short film that expands on the universe of ParaNorman. This comedy-tinged, lighthearted horror film is sure to be a hit with fans of the original movie.
