Artist Chase Shakur: The Sound and Style of Atlanta

Growing up in Atlanta, artist Chase Shakur was immersed in a melting pot of cultures and sounds. From R&B to rock to jazz, these influences have shaped him into the unique artist he is today.

“My city has so much flavor, especially in the music scene,” Shakur shares. “It’s a sound that’s distinct to Atlanta and it inspires me every day. I always try to pay homage to that in my music.”

Now, Shakur is taking his love for his city and incorporating it into his fashion choices. Collaborating with UGG, he puts his own spin on the brand’s new designs for the season. With a focus on adaptable pieces, like the Lo Lowmel hybrid sneaker and the Tasman Track Jacket, Shakur creates looks that reflect his personality and unique style.

The Music Origin Story

At just 24 years old, Shakur has already made a name for himself in the underground music scene. He shares, “The short version of the story is that I liked this girl in middle school, and she was in an art summer program. They taught recording and singing. I thought it was cool so I joined too. About a year later, I started rapping and doing cyphers. It was a happy accident.”

But Shakur’s passion for music didn’t stop there. He has since released three full-length albums and has a deluxe version of his latest release on the way this winter. And while music is his main form of expression, fashion also plays a significant role in how he communicates with his audience.

“Fashion and musical expression go hand in hand,” Shakur explains. “It’s a way to express how you’re feeling. Whether it’s through colors, textures, or even just choosing between sweats or jeans, fashion adds to my artistry and tells people what I’m going through at that time.”

The Style of Chase Shakur

Working with stylist Manny Omitto, Shakur showcases his classic sensibilities through his fashion choices. He rocks the Classic Ultra Mini Weather Hybrid with a layered outfit and a tie, and the Men’s Peakmod Lowcut in a monochromatic black leather look. While he typically sticks to all-black, comfortable outfits in the studio, Shakur still incorporates his UGG Classic boots into his daily wardrobe. And when he’s dressing up for a special occasion, his UGGs still match the vibe, even with more retro-leaning looks.

“Lately, I’ve been into button-ups and more preppy looks,” Shakur shares.

Exploring Atlanta with UGG

To fully capture the essence of his sound and style, Shakur took UGG to some of the iconic spots in Atlanta that have shaped him as an artist. This included a visit to the legendary Cascade Skating Rink, a staple in the city’s music scene.
