Khaite: Where Less is More

Khaite is a label that believes in the power of simplicity. While their designs may seem intricate at first glance, a closer look reveals the true beauty lies in the clean lines and expert craftsmanship. The Khaite woman exudes a minimalist poise, but she is far from simple. She embodies a duality of grace and strength, which is perfectly showcased in the label’s Spring/Summer 2026 collection.

Designer Catherine Holstein wanted to empower her wearers to feel confident in their own skin, even when they aren’t dressed in perfectly polished ensembles. She showed that haphazard can be haute, by incorporating raw touches like asymmetrical silhouettes, adventurous shapes, and rough hems into the collection. This is a different side of Khaite, a more undone and edgy version.

The collection was presented at The Shed, with a runway defined by sharp, jagged pathways and pools of water. The show’s notes described it as “walking on shaken ground.” The designs featured playful textures, such as tactile fur dots, flower appliques, and thick knit fibers, in matching skirt and top sets, button-downs, and blouses. The silhouettes were warped, with twisted, folded, or pinched textiles, elevating everyday wardrobe staples.

Khaite also reimagined the power pantsuit, with tulle exploding from necklines in both knee and ankle-length capri variations. Skirts showcased split hems or oversized fits, adding a touch of daring to the collection. Designer Catherine Holstein is known for her ability to combine elegance with a provocative edge, and this collection was no exception.

The carefree vibe of the collection extended to the beauty looks as well. Models wore minimal makeup, with smudged charcoal eyeliner being the most prominent feature. The key to achieving the “chic, but barely even trying” look was in the skin prep. Monastery cleansing and moisturizing products were used to give the models a natural glow, enhancing the raw beauty of each look. This organic feel was intentional, echoing the collection’s message that beauty doesn’t always have to be so put together.
