Laquan Smith Takes Over New York Fashion Week with Star-Studded Show

When the mystery show on the final timeslot – 8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 16 – of New York Fashion Week popped up on the official CFDA calendar, everyone was left hypothesizing what that closing showcase would be. But leave it to Laquan Smith to wrap the season up right.

Laquan Smith Returns to NYFW with a Bang

After sitting out last season, Smith came correct with his latest collection and made a poignant and proper return to this season’s schedule. The show, held at Manhattan’s Classic Car Club on the Hudson River Piers, drew in a crowd of New York City’s freshest and finest.

Star-Studded Front Row and High-Energy Spectacle

With sleek sports cars and classic models stationed throughout the venue and an outdoor terrace serving caviar and champagne, the front row was filled with some of music’s biggest names. From Latto to Mariah The Scientist to Ice Spice, the show was a star-studded affair. And let’s not forget the rare appearance of Wendy Williams, Ice T and Coco, Lil’ Kim, and Sukihana.

Smith Stays True to His Namesake Label

Smith’s latest collection stayed true to his namesake label’s core DNA, featuring striking womenswear pieces. The show kicked off with an all-sheer look, complete with a cowboy hat, and continued with a variety of tailored and textured looks. Think chiffon, sheer, and organza paired with structured leather and oversized fur bags.
