HYACYN’s “STURM UND DRANG” Collection: A Bold Rebellion Against Conformity
Brooklyn-based designer Tobias Ulmer is known for his futuristic vision, but for his latest ready-to-wear range, he looked to the past for inspiration. Titled “STURM UND DRANG” after the 18th-century German artistic movement, the rebellious 2025/2026 collection channels the same ethos through HYACYN’s unique design perspective.
“STURM UND DRANG was all about breaking free from order and authority. We wanted to capture that same defiant energy with this collection,” explained Ulmer in the collection notes. “Rejecting conformity while finding beauty in tension.”
The runway showcase featured oversized outerwear, tailored leather pieces, and distressed graphics, all coming together to create a concise and captivating display of creative rebellion. And the front row was just as impressive, with appearances from rappers Bktherula, Rich Amiri, Destroy Lonely, and Matt Ox, as well as The Clermont Twins and Honey Balenciaga.
But the storytelling didn’t stop there. Accompanying the garments was artist Isaiah Davis’s “Door Installation,” symbolizing privacy and dignity in a world where some try to dictate how we should live and feel. As the collection notes state, “HYACYN stands in defense of individuality.”
