Wales Bonner and adidas Originals Team Up to Honor Basketball Legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
Wales Bonner, the British menswear designer known for her strong historical perspective, has joined forces with adidas Originals to pay tribute to basketball icon Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. The collaboration features a revamped version of the WB Jabbar sneaker, as well as a retro apparel capsule, and will be available starting September 8.
Introducing the Reimagined WB Jabbar Sneaker
The highlight of the collection is the redesigned WB Jabbar sneaker, which features a suede upper and crocodile-embossed leather stripes in vibrant colors. The shoe also includes a gold foil sky hook detail on the tongue and a Wales Bonner wordmark near the heel, paying homage to Abdul-Jabbar’s signature move on the court.
A Retro Apparel Capsule to Complete the Look
In addition to the sneakers, the collection also includes a retro apparel capsule that includes a yellow jersey with green accents, a white track jacket with a striped collar and cuffs, and striped tube socks in colors inspired by Abdul-Jabbar’s former teams, the Milwaukee Bucks and the Los Angeles Lakers.

The campaign for the collection, featuring model Jecardi Sykes and shot by Oliver Hadlee Pearch, pays tribute to Abdul-Jabbar’s cross-cultural legacy by incorporating archival footage and quotes from the basketball legend. The collection is a nod to his impact not only in the world of sports, but also in acting and beyond.
