LeBron was heavily involved in the design process, handpicking the 23 moments that he wanted to be represented in his shoe. From his high school debut on ESPN to his return to Cleveland and bringing the city its first championship, each colorway tells a story that is meaningful to LeBron.
The lead colorway, “Uncharted,” commemorates LeBron’s achievement of becoming the first player to reach 40,000 points scored in the regular season. Its all-gold finish, created using a technique called vapor deposition, is a nod to the rarity of this accomplishment. The upper features a diamond pattern, and a graphic of 40,000 points can be found on the heel.
But “Uncharted” is just one of 23 stories coming to life with the LeBron 23. Each design features a graphic upper with details that extend the storytelling, and the back of the shoe pays homage to each theme.
Nike has also shared the technical specifications of the LeBron 23, which were inspired by a wear-test version that LeBron himself wore over the summer. The shoe features his crown logo, serving as a cradle for the sneaker and offering both style and functionality. The forefoot is designed for flexibility, while the midfoot and heel provide stability and support.
But what sets the LeBron 23 apart is the ZoomX drop-in, a first for Nike Basketball. This innovative creation offers maximum responsiveness underfoot, supported by Cushlon 3.0 foam and a full carbon fiber shank.
