New Balance 1000 “Dirty”: The Latest Addition to the Pre-Distressed Sneaker Trend
Get ready to ditch your crisp, clean sneakers because the latest trend in the sneaker world is all about that lived-in look. Nike’s “Dirty Triple White” SWOOSH AF1 and A$AP Rocky x PUMA Inhale OG have already jumped on the pre-distressed bandwagon, and now New Balance is joining in with their new “Dirty” 1000 model.
Reissued in 2024, the “Dirty” 1000 draws inspiration from the original 1999 design with intricate technical overlays and a Y2K aesthetic. The retro runner features a recognizable silver colorway, mesh uppers, and leather overlays, as well as a chunky segmented sole unit with ABZORB cushioning. But what sets this model apart is the dirt-like smears and abrasions applied throughout the body, giving it a realistic used look. The white mesh is stained with a smokey effect, while the leather overlays have an aged finish. The midsoles also have a dirty appearance, emphasizing the sculptural shape of the cushioning, and the black outsoles feature black branding on the upper panels.
But that’s not all – New Balance has also unveiled a “Grey Metallic” colorway with similar distressing, paying homage to their signature color. In fact, the brand even has a special event called “Grey Days” every May, where they release exclusive products and share stories about the color gray.
The New Balance 1000 “Dirty” will be available on August 1, 2025, on the brand’s website. Check out the gallery above for a closer look at this pre-distressed sneaker trend. Don’t miss out on the chance to add these unique and edgy kicks to your collection!
