Goldwin 0: The Future of Japanese Design
Goldwin, the renowned Japanese brand, is pushing the boundaries of design with its latest launch – the Performance Capsule for SS25. Led by Nur Abbas and Goldwin’s techlab, the team utilized heatmapping technology to create a functional and visually striking design system.
Through meticulous testing, the team identified areas of the body that are most exposed to sunlight and areas that generate excess moisture. This data was then used to map the construction of each garment, resulting in a collection that is both practical and stylish.
At first glance, the pieces may seem unassuming, but upon closer inspection, the unique architecture of each garment is revealed through circular and curvilinear cutouts and light-reflecting materials. The collection features a range of stone-hued colorways and fast-drying fabrics, giving it a subtly futuristic feel.
Inspired by the rich tradition of trail running in Japan, the standout piece of the collection is the reimagined Goldwin Star Trail Pack. This innovative backpack boasts 26 ventilation holes and front compartments for easy access. The capsule also includes breathable compression shorts and waterproof ripstop shorts with unique scalloped detailing.
For tops, Goldwin 0 offers short-sleeved and long-sleeved tees with a one-of-a-kind circular ventilation system. With a history dating back to 1954, Goldwin has always been at the forefront of advanced design, as seen in previous collections like the Goldwin Paper Fiber collection, which combines a crisp abaca-based textile with KODENSHI finishes.
With the introduction of the Performance Capsule, Goldwin continues to solidify its reputation for innovation. The collection is now available for purchase at the official Goldwin web store.
