Original Story: Oakley and Meta Team Up to Introduce Revolutionary Performance AI Glasses
After teasing a mysterious new Instagram account – @oakleymeta – earlier this week, Meta and Oakley have finally revealed their first product collaboration: the Oakley Meta HSTN. This groundbreaking pair of glasses introduces a new category of Performance AI glasses, combining bold aesthetics with cutting-edge technology to provide a high-resolution first-person perspective that can be controlled hands-free.
Introducing the Oakley Meta HSTN
Pronounced “HOW-stuhn”, the Oakley Meta HSTN builds on the success of Meta’s previous collaboration with Ray-Ban and takes it to the next level. These glasses feature a built-in 3K camera and a battery that can last up to eight hours with continuous use. For added convenience, they also come with a charging case that can hold an additional 48 hours of battery life. The glasses also boast powerful open-ear speakers on both sides, seamlessly integrated into the frames, allowing users to listen to music with crystal-clear sound while working out. And with an IPX4 rating for water and sweat-resistance, these glasses are perfect for any intense workout.
AI at the Core
The Oakley Meta HSTN is not just a regular pair of glasses – it’s a smart pair of glasses. AI technology is at the core of these glasses, with features like Meta AI – your personal AI assistant – that can help plan your workout, answer questions, and even start filming at your command.
Six Options to Choose From
The Oakley Meta HSTN will be available in six different options, with three of them featuring Oakley’s renowned “PRIZM” lens technology. This innovative technology is said to help decode how the brain and eye process light, providing users with a more enhanced visual experience.
Limited-Edition Launch
The first to launch is the limited-edition Oakley Meta HSTN, featuring 24K PRIZM polarized lenses and gold accents to commemorate Oakley’s 50th anniversary this year. This special edition is a must-have for any Oakley fan.
The Future is Here
Meta has made it clear that they see smart glasses as the future, with their previous release of the Orion glasses. It’s no surprise that they have now ventured into the sports-focused market, with Alex Himel, VP of Wearables at Meta, stating that “glasses have emerged as the ideal tool for people to listen to music, capture videos.” With Oakley being owned by Luxottica, just like Ray-Ban, this partnership was a natural fit. Rocco Basilico, Chief Wearables Officer at Luxottica, believes that this collaboration with Meta marks “a bold new chapter” for Oakley and sets “a new standard for the industry.” He also added that Oakley Meta is just one part of their larger strategy to build a connected ecosystem of wearable technology.
