As previously announced, Children of the Discordance joined other Asian brands Post Archive Faction (PAF) and Homme Plisse Issey Miyake as special guests at the 108th edition of Pitti Uomo in Florence.
Expressive and Edgy: Designer Hideaki Shikama’s Vision
Designer Hideaki Shikama did not hold back with his expressive range of cut-up and meticulously reworked garments. In an official statement, he compared his fashion to DJing, with a focus on remixing and creating unique pieces that reflect his personal style and the local code of his peers.
Structured and Tailored: Fine Tailoring Meets Edgy Sensibilities
Shikama enlisted a close friend and London-trained pattern maker to incorporate fine tailoring into his structured skirts, jackets, trousers, and shorts. However, the label maintains its edgy sensibilities through processes like patinated over-dye, deconstructed silhouettes, and asymmetrical compositions.
Clashing Details and Distressed Finishes
The concept of “discordance” is materialized through halved garments sewn together, patchwork suiting, and overlapping prints, trims, and details. Paisley patterns, graffiti graphics, faded crests, and distressed finishes add to the edgy and rebellious vibe of the collection.
