Oliver Peoples Releases Limited Edition Sunglasses Inspired by Wes Anderson Film
Los Angeles-based eyewear brand Oliver Peoples has announced the release of 10 Premiere Edition sunglasses, inspired by the upcoming Wes Anderson film, The Phonecian Scheme. The collection was inspired by a custom piece worn by Benicio del Toro in the film and is a celebration of the official release.
Handcrafted in Italy with Custom Packaging
Each of the ten Premiere Edition pairs is handcrafted in Italy and comes with custom packaging that reflects the film’s nostalgic aesthetic. According to Anderson, the inspiration for the sunglasses came from the image of del Toro playing a Euro business tycoon, reminiscent of a character from an Antonioni movie.
Stills from the Film Showcasing the Vintage-Style Sunglasses
The Phonecian Scheme recently premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and is set to hit select theaters this Friday. Stills from the movie feature the legendary del Toro sporting the elegant vintage-style sunglasses, characterized by tortoise-hued frames and a tapered silhouette. The sunglasses also replicate details like the gold-hued rivets and a metallic numbered Premiere Edition on the inner temple.
The Plot of The Phonecian Scheme
The film follows the story of Zsa-Zsa Korda, played by del Toro, as he tries to save his business and reconnect with his daughter, played by Mia Threapleton. The star-studded cast also includes Scarlet Johansson, Tom Hanks, Michael Cera, Riz Ahmed, F. Murray Abraham, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Bill Murray.
Release Date and Availability
The Phonecian Scheme will be released in select theaters this Friday and will be available in theaters everywhere on June 6. Interested buyers can inquire about the limited edition sunglasses at their local Oliver Peoples boutique. Check out the trailer for The Phonecian Scheme below.
