Vans Launches Signature Shoe for Skateboarder Curren Caples with Epic Party in Palm Springs
It’s not every day that a skateboarder gets their own signature shoe, let alone their first one. But Vans has made it happen for team member Curren Caples with the release of his new shoe, aptly named The Curren. And to celebrate, Vans pulled out all the stops for an unforgettable launch event in Palm Springs.
Surfing, Skating, and Shenanigans: Vans Goes All Out for Curren Caples’ Signature Shoe Launch
The festivities began with an evening session at Palm Springs Surf Club, where both surfers and bodyboarders showed off their skills on the machine-made waves. Curren, a talented surfer as well as skateboarder, wowed the crowd with his moves. Vans’ Vice President of Events and Promotions, Steve Van Doren, was there to cheer on the action, while other Vans Skateboarding team members like Zion Wright took on the waves. And to top it all off, a giant inflatable version of The Curren floated in the water.
Desert Skate Session and Scent Discovery: Day Two of Curren Caples’ Signature Shoe Launch
The second day of the launch event was all about land, with a makeshift halfpipe set up in the middle of the desert. Vans skaters, including Curren himself, put the shoes to the test on the halfpipe while guests explored scent discovery stations showcasing Curren’s signature cologne, “la chaussure” (French for “shoe”). The shoe itself is a combination of three classic Vans models, with some added improvements by Curren.
Party All Night: Vans Celebrates The Curren’s Launch with an Epic Bash
After the skate session and scent discovery, guests were treated to a screening of The Curren’s campaign film, a hilarious parody of old-school fragrance commercials. The night ended with an all-night party, where Vans skaters like Lizzie Armanto danced the night away. The Curren shoe is now available for purchase on the Vans website and at select retailers for $80 USD.
