The Iconic Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams Exhibition Takes Over Seoul’s DDP
The highly anticipated Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams exhibition has finally arrived in Seoul, and it’s taking over the iconic Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP). This immersive experience offers a journey through nearly 80 years of Dior’s creative legacy, all designed by OMA partner Shohei Shigematsu. This marks the fourth collaboration between Dior and the renowned architecture firm, following successful editions in Denver, Dallas, and Tokyo.
A Fusion of Dior and Korean Culture
Located in DDP’s spacious and column-free Art Hall 1, the Seoul edition seamlessly blends Dior’s world with Korean cultural heritage. Instead of traditional galleries, the exhibition flows organically through thematic rooms anchored by “The Garden.” This space is inspired by the madang, a courtyard found in traditional Korean hanok homes. Inside, visitors will find a monumental 12-meter-tall moon jar, symbolizing harmony and simplicity. The dreamlike projection dome and hanji paper forest by Korean artist Hyun Joo Kim create a serene and futuristic sanctuary.
Reimagining Dior’s Legacy
Each gallery in the exhibition offers a unique perspective on Dior’s legacy through a Korean lens. The “Dior Legacy” room features a ribbon-like structure inspired by jogakbo patchwork, tracing the House’s creative directors. In the “Lady Dior” room, modular units are transformed into sculptural showcases of the iconic bag, drawing inspiration from red lacquerware cabinetry. Other highlights include the “30 Avenue Montaigne,” “The New Look,” “Miss Dior,” and “Colorama” rooms.

Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams is a must-see for anyone interested in fashion, space, and culture.
