Taiwanese Fashion Brand NAMESAKE Teams Up with NBA All-Star Jaylen Brown for “Intellectual Club” Collection
Get ready to elevate your streetwear game with the latest collaboration from Taiwanese fashion brand NAMESAKE and NBA All-Star Jaylen Brown’s sportswear brand 7uice. The two have joined forces to create a 31-piece collection that seamlessly blends fashion, athletics, and community in a collection titled “Intellectual Club.”
Known for their unique mix of basketball culture and high-end streetwear, NAMESAKE has previously released collections inspired by star athletes like “Pistol” Pete Maravich and explored the concept of time through the lens of the game. But this latest collaboration takes a different approach, drawing inspiration from the duality of a chess game.
The collection’s manifesto states, “black and white, offense and defense, power and patience,” highlighting the intentional motifs, textiles, and patterns used throughout the lineup. According to the brand, each piece is a calculated move, with every detail carefully crafted.
The collection features elevated subversions of performance pieces and athletic shapes, including a sailor jacket with dimensional pleats, zip-up jackets with origami-like folds, and varsity jackets with noticeably oversized sleeves. The use of subtle grid patterns in linen blends, pineapple leaf fibers, and thick wool textiles pays homage to the classic chess board.
The collection made its debut during Paris Fashion Week in June of last year, with 7uice flying East Coast basketball players to the 19th arrondissement for a game against a local Parisian team. The collection is part of NAMESAKE’s “Offshore” collaborative chapter, created as a “love letter” to the founders’ eldest brother, Richard.
