Team Ikuzawa and Chris Labrooy: A Match Made in Motorsport Heaven

Team Ikuzawa, the iconic Japanese motorsport brand, has teamed up with celebrated Scottish artist Chris Labrooy for a collaboration that is sure to turn heads. This exciting partnership brings together the worlds of Japanese motorsport nostalgia and surreal digital art, curated by two industry icons, Sarah Andelman and Motofumi “POGGY” Kogi.

A Superhero Universe Inspired by Japanese Racing

The capsule collection, curated by Andelman and Kogi, draws inspiration from an archival 1988 photo of a Team Ikuzawa motorcycle rider stranded at the Isle of Man TT. Labrooy, known for his playful and otherworldly CGI art, likened this moment to an “alien landing.” The collection reimagines Team Ikuzawa as a superhero universe, with nods to 1980s Japanese racing and zipped-up superhero culture.

Exclusive Limited-Edition Pieces and Customizable In-Store Jacket Service

The limited-edition capsule collection includes a red track jacket, art-adorned tees, collectible patches, sticker packs, and a customizable in-store jacket service. This pop-up event also marks the first launch of Team Ikuzawa’s mainline collection in Japan, with exclusive pieces available throughout the one-month run.

Blending Racing Heritage with Contemporary Design

Founded by Japanese racing legend Tetsu Ikuzawa, Team Ikuzawa has evolved under the creative direction of his daughter, Mai Ikuzawa, into a cultural force that blends racing heritage with contemporary design. Now, with the addition of Labrooy’s signature surrealism, the brand is taking its unique style to new heights.

Launch and Availability

The capsule collection will launch on April 17 at SELECT by BAYCREW’S in Toranomon Hills, Tokyo. For those unable to attend the event, a global online release will follow on May 16.
