TOKYO CULTUART by BEAMS and Roland Team Up to Celebrate 20th Anniversary of SP-404 Sampler

The iconic SP-404 sampler turns 20 this year and to celebrate, TOKYO CULTUART by BEAMS has joined forces with Roland for a special collaboration. The collection features a range of apparel and accessories, all showcasing Roland’s signature colors.

Apparel and Accessories with a Hip Twist

The capsule collection includes T-shirts with a bold Roland chest logo and co-branded details on the back. There’s also the SAMUEL collaboration tee, featuring an illustration of the SP-404 MK II, and another piece with the machine itself on the back. To complete the look, the collection offers branded caps in black denim and gray, as well as canvas tote bags.

A Brief History of the SP-404 Sampler

Roland’s original SP-404 was first released in 2005 and has since been followed by several versions, including the SP-555, SP-404SX, SP-404A, and the most recent SP-404 MKII. The sampler has become a staple in hip-hop, particularly in the production of lofi hip-hop, with renowned artists like Madlib, Flying Lotus, and J Dilla utilizing the machine for their work.
