Bandit Running and ASICS Team Up for a Must-Have Footwear Collaboration
Bandit Running, the newest addition to the Los Angeles boutique scene, has just announced an exciting partnership with Japanese footwear brand ASICS. And their first collaboration is a must-have for any sneakerhead.
Inspired by Japanese American Artist Isamu Noguchi
The Novablast 5 model has been given a fresh new look by Bandit, drawing inspiration from the works of Japanese American artist Isamu Noguchi. This collaboration pays homage to the respective origins of both brands.
A Fusion of Textures and Colors
The Novablast 5 features a muted off-white color palette, with a mix of sheer and translucent textiles on the uppers. The knitted uppers are designed with a gravel-like texture, reminiscent of Noguchi’s stone works. The lateral panels also feature sheer taped overlays, showcasing an abstract Bandit emblem.
Subtle Nods to Noguchi’s Legacy
The collaboration doesn’t stop at the design of the shoe. Red accents on the midsole heel and near the tongue pay tribute to the Noguchi logo seen on the original lanterns. The insoles also feature a Japanese typographic print, adding a unique touch to the shoe.
Unconventional Details and Extras
For those who appreciate unconventional details, the Novablast 5 has you covered. An industrial style tag is sewn to the top of the toe box, and the tongue is finished with a sculptural pleated texture. Each pair also comes with a custom Japanese ripstop drawstring bag, complete with a translucent tag carrier.
