Calling all Y/Project Fans: Heaven by Marc Jacobs Revives Fallen Paris Fashion Label with Punkish Streetwear Collaboration
Attention all Y/Project fans! Get ready for a revival of the fallen Paris fashion label, courtesy of Heaven by Marc Jacobs. This exciting collaboration, packed with plenty of the imprint’s perverse style codes, will be available tomorrow, March 25.
2 Years in the Making
Heaven took to Instagram to announce the collection’s release, stating that it has been two years in the making. This collaboration is the product of Y/Project’s former creative director, Glenn Martens, who is now leading Maison Margiela.
Sad Circumstances
For context, Y/Project’s owner, Gilles Elalouf, sadly passed away in June. The label then canceled its Paris Fashion Week show in September while struggling to find a buyer. Martens stepped down as the brand’s creative director at the same time, and after an unsuccessful attempt to sell the label in October, the writing was on the wall. By January, Y/Project had officially ceased operations.
Exciting Revelation
So, Jacobs’ collaboration with the now-defunct label comes as quite a surprise (and an exciting one!) for the Y/Project cult. The collection’s campaign, starring Ken Carson and Alana Champion, features a blend of both brands’ signatures. Expect to see shrunken hoodies with dual iconography, ultra-revealing knits, and distorted denim statements, such as jackets with ultra-long sleeves and trousers with bunched-up ankles. It’s a nod to the subtle subversion that made Y/Project so beloved among fashionphiles, making it the perfect farewell present for the brand’s younger fans.
