Designers Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez Confirmed as New Creative Directors of LOEWE

After much speculation, it’s official: Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, the dynamic duo behind New York-based label Proenza Schouler, will be taking over as the new creative directors of LOEWE. The announcement, made on April 7, finally puts an end to the rumors surrounding their potential appointment.

The news comes just a week after LOEWE’s parent company, LVMH, confirmed that current creative director Jonathan Anderson would be stepping down after 11 years at the helm. McCollough and Hernandez, who founded Proenza Schouler, announced earlier this year that they would be leaving their roles as creative directors of the brand, but would remain on the board and as minority shareholders.

This latest development in the fashion world has only fueled speculation that Anderson may be moving to Dior as the next creative director. In a statement to WWD, LOEWE stated that McCollough and Hernandez will be responsible for all creative aspects of the brand, including womenswear, menswear, leather goods, and accessories.

LOEWE CEO Pascale Lepoivre explained their decision to choose the duo, saying, “To name just two factors: They are highly creative and also entrepreneurs, whose curiosity and vision go beyond fashion and extend to diverse cultural fields as well as to the diversity of markets and customers that we talk to. They are warm, open and lively, an excellent fit with the company culture of being intense and passionate, while also committed to being playful and not taking ourselves too seriously.”

She added, “Their vision and creativity are a perfect match for the codes of the house that we have built, and I am excited to see them shape its future.” McCollough and Hernandez will be making their first mark at LOEWE by visiting the atelier, meeting artisans, and browsing the brand’s archive in Madrid.

In their first statement as creative directors, the duo expressed their excitement and honor to join LOEWE, stating, “We look forward to working alongside its extraordinary teams and artisans, whose talent — under the exceptional creative direction of Jonathan Anderson — has shaped LOEWE into the cultural force it is today. We extend our sincere gratitude to Bernard Arnault, Delphine Arnault, Sidney Toledano, and to Pascale Lepoivre for entrusting us with this remarkable house’s next chapter.
