Labrum London Takes Over Abbey Road Studios for Fall/Winter 2025 Show
On Saturday night, the iconic Abbey Road Studios in St. John’s Woods was transformed into a fashion extravaganza as Foday Dumbuya’s contemporary menswear label, Labrum London, presented its Fall/Winter 2025 collection. Titled “Designed by Immigrants: Sound of Us,” the show paid homage to UK music history and celebrated the influence of migration on the country’s music scene.
In an interview with Vogue, Dumbuya shared his inspiration for the collection, stating, “I was feeling quite nostalgic this season, so I wanted to reflect on the era that made me fall in love with music in the UK. It was a time when London started to embrace this new sound that spoke to who we are and stopped looking to the States. And it’s important to look at who was pioneering that movement. They’re the products of migration – their parents came from somewhere else.”
The runway was graced by the likes of Akala and Ghetts, who not only modeled Dumbuya’s latest designs but also performed their own music for an intimate audience. The collection featured Dumbuya’s signature sartorial inventions, including double-breasted blazers paired with oversized trousers, heavy coats with decorated utility pockets, and subtle embroidery on formal pieces such as button-up shirts and pleated trousers.
According to Dumbuya, the musical performances perfectly complemented the spirit of the show, adding a raw and powerful energy to the event. The line’s visual identity was also highlighted through the use of cowrie shell motifs, a signature element of Labrum’s design language that draws inspiration from vintage references.
