In Berlin, Richert Beil’s Fall/Winter 2025 Show Tells a Story of Motherhood and Struggle
At the Fichtebunker in Kreuzberg, Berlin, fashion designer Richert Beil presented his latest collection, “MUTTER,” for Fall/Winter 2025. The show, steeped in history, explored the emotional and physical exhaustion of motherhood through the lens of a strained mother. The venue, an abandoned bunker that served as a refuge for mothers and their children during World War II, added to the powerful message of the line.
Beil’s collection was a response to the demands of modern life, calling attention to the invisible labor, constant performance, and consumerism that weigh heavily on parents. The need for authenticity and empathy was also emphasized.
The garments themselves reflected the theme of strain, with tight tank tops layered under long-sleeve button-down shirts and dresses that enveloped the wearer’s head. Leather balaclavas added to the cocoon-like effect. Bulky leather skirts concealed wide-legged pleated trousers, and double-breasted overcoats provided protection down to the shin. One model’s pregnant belly was exposed in a silky one-piece, while another carried jugs of milk under a transparent raincoat.
The show concluded with three models dressed in all black, carrying wilting metal flowers and a harness-clad purse while circling a central sculpture of a holy angel. This symbolized the need for shelter and care in the midst of global political crises.
Richert Beil’s Fall/Winter 2025 collection is a poignant reflection of the struggles of motherhood and the search for protection in today’s world. Check out the gallery above for a glimpse of the show, and stay tuned to Hypebeast for more coverage of Berlin Fashion Week.
