Mugler Creative Director Casey Cadwallader Reportedly Parting Ways with Fashion House
According to sources, it seems that Casey Cadwallader, the creative director of Mugler, will be leaving the French fashion house. This news comes after Cadwallader’s successful tenure at the brand, which began in 2018 after stints at other high-profile fashion houses such as Marc Jacobs, Loewe, Narciso Rodriguez, and Acne Studios.
The potential departure of Cadwallader may explain why Mugler was not included in the provisional calendar for Paris Fashion Week in March. WWD first mentioned the possibility of Cadwallader’s departure as early as Spring 2025.
During his time at Mugler, Cadwallader continued the legacy of the late founder Manfred Thierry Mugler, known for his bold and fierce interpretations of femininity. However, he also brought a contemporary touch to the brand, with his refined silhouettes and a nod to Mugler’s iconic archival collections.
Cadwallader’s impact on the brand was evident in the global stars he dressed, including Kim Kardashian, Beyonce, Dua Lipa, and Lady Gaga. In September, he presented Mugler’s SS25 collection and debuted a new documentary, “Inside the Dream: Mugler,” which celebrated the brand’s 50th anniversary. The documentary explored Mugler’s groundbreaking couture moments, such as the iconic “Chimère” mermaid dress, and gave viewers a behind-the-scenes look at Cadwallader’s SS24 presentation.
Although Manfred Thierry Mugler officially left his role as head of the brand in 2002, he returned as a creative advisor in 2013. Cadwallader was the last Mugler director to work with Mugler in this capacity. At this time, Mugler’s team has not confirmed Cadwallader’s departure.
It remains to be seen what the future holds for Mugler without Cadwallader at the helm, but one thing is for sure: his impact on the brand will not be forgotten. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.
