“Feng Chen Wang Unleashes Her Mythical Creatures at Paris Fashion Week”
Chinese-born, London-based designer Feng Chen Wang revealed her latest collection at Paris Fashion Week on Thursday, surrounded by her otherworldly Fall 2025 cast. Each model donned ceramic-clad caps and carried fantastical animal sculptures, creating a surreal atmosphere that transported viewers to an alternate reality. Wang drew inspiration from the classic Chinese text Shan Hai Jing, known for its vivid depictions of mystical landscapes and creatures.
Collaborating with artisans from China’s ceramic capital, Jingdezhen, Wang brought her “Feng-esque creatures” to life in the form of bug-eyed, sharp-toothed, and kooky-looking beasts. These creatures served as the line’s best accessories, appearing in various shapes and sizes. Wang also incorporated her mythical creations into striking prints, which were woven into textiles and printed on denim silhouettes.
The UGG collaboration was particularly striking, with the signature slipper transformed into a goopy shell with fangs and harsh edges. Wang described the shoes as works of art, crafted first with ceramics and then molded into footwear. The big-steppers, available in brown, yellow, and blue hues, captured the attention of the front row throughout the show.
While the monstrous theme was prevalent, Wang’s outerwear stole the show. Bonded neoprene tech mimicked the look of traditional wool on leather coats and sleeveless puffers, while structural denim coats and shiny puffers added a satisfyingly stiff element. Knitwear also played a key role, with billowing bows and tonal patterns adding to the supernatural inspiration.
Despite the collection’s folkloric influences, Wang’s ultimate goal was practical: to see people wearing her designs on the streets and feeling comfortable in them.
