Nordic Knots Unveils Modernist Collection: A Tribute to Swedish Funki Design Movement
Nordic Knots, the renowned rug brand, has just launched its latest collection, inspired by the iconic Swedish Funki design movement of the 20th century. This new lineup features six unique designs, all crafted from luxurious New Zealand wool.
The Swedish Funki movement was known for its functional minimalism and innovative industrial processes, which revolutionized the architectural world. The Modernist Collection pays homage to this influential movement, capturing its essence in each rug design.
One of the defining features of the Modernist Collection is its focus on symmetry and clean geometric shapes. These elements reflect the refined vision of Nordic designers such as Edvard Heiberg, Arne Jacobsen, and Alvar Aalto.
The collection stands out with its vibrant shades of pink, blue, green, and white. The Modern rug, for example, features a striking black grid with miniature square accents for contrast. Other designs, like the Pavillion and Grid, also incorporate geometric patterns in varying scales.
In addition to the Modernist Collection, Nordic Knots has collaborated with Swedish architect Andreas Martin-Löf to create a range of rugs inspired by his personal space and surrounding architecture in Norr Mälarstrand, Stockholm. The 03 rugs, with their off-set half-circles in green and cream, offer a refreshing break from the stark geometry of the collection. For a more subtle option, the Lux 2 rugs come in solid shades of burnt orange, golden brown, gray, and white. These rugs feature a unique two-millimeter difference in pile height, creating a multi-directional composition of rectangles with a tonal effect.
The full Modernist Collection is now available for purchase at the official Nordic Knots web store. Don’t miss your chance to bring a touch of Swedish Funki design into your home with these stunning rugs.
