Walter Van Beirendonck Takes Fashion to New Heights with Futuristic Fall/Winter 2025 Collection

In a bold move, fashion icon Walter Van Beirendonck chose to showcase his latest collection outside the typical fashion hub of Paris’ 18th arrondissement. But that wasn’t the only surprise in store for guests at the show.

Before the models hit the runway, attendees were greeted with show notes on their seats, featuring a thought-provoking statement from the designer himself. “The boom of vintage or archival clothing, while a step towards sustainability, has left little room for innovation and new techniques in fashion,” the statement read.

It’s clear that Van Beirendonck is looking towards the future for inspiration and has some thoughts on the current state of fashion. As the industry expects stylists, designers, and editors to push boundaries and move culture forward, he poses the question of how this can be achieved if we are constantly looking to the past.

With his Fall/Winter 2025 collection, Van Beirendonck takes a futuristic approach, incorporating extraterrestrial elements and alien-like motifs into his designs. From silicone finger extensions reminiscent of E.T. to wide-legged trousers, fringed baseball caps, and colorful suiting with unique cuts, the collection is out of this world.

But the most striking aspect of the show was the models themselves. After strutting down the runway, each one took a seat on an alien-shaped chair, perfectly matching their outfit. They remained there until the end of the show, flashing peace signs to the audience.

For fans of Van Beirendonck, it’s no surprise that his collections often have a deeper message. And in this case, the designer’s ultimate declaration is one of peace. Just as the models did on the runway, his collection reminds us to strive for harmony and unity in a constantly evolving fashion world.
