The basketball shoe scene was abuzz last year with the highly anticipated collaboration between NBA star Kyrie Irving and Chinese sportswear brand ANTA. The dynamic duo first made waves with the release of the ANTA KAI 1, and now they’re back with a new addition to their partnership – the Hélà Style in a fresh “Chief Hélà” colorway.
The “Chief Hélà” theme, inspired by Irving’s indigenous Native roots, was first seen on the ANTA KAI 1 in October of last year. Now, it takes center stage on Irving’s everyday model, the Hélà Style. The shoe pays tribute to Irving’s Lakota name, “Hélà,” with a rich brown suede upper and Native-inspired details like tassels at the heel. According to Irving, “Every step I take in my journey honors my ancestors and the strength they’ve passed down to me. [This] shoe is more than just a design; it’s a tribute to where I come from and a symbol of unity and progress.”
