Mountain Research’s SS25 Collection: A Fresh Start with a Bold Aesthetic
In a surprising turn of events, Mountain Research has ditched its signature all-black utilitarian design for a more vibrant and optimistic approach in their latest collection for 2025. The Japanese label is embracing the concept of “post-tech,” blending outdoor gear with casual and craft-focused styles to create a more accessible and versatile aesthetic.
The collection features a lively palette of rich primary colors and rustic materials such as corduroy, suede, and textured wovens. True to their “Anarcho-Mountaineer” ethos, one standout look includes a red fleece set paired with a yellow undershirt, red gloves, and a large hiking backpack adorned with carabiners and charms. Another eye-catching ensemble features matching white and blue outfits, with cropped denim trucker jackets layered over quilt-patterned fabrics to create a skirt-like effect.
Of course, traditional outdoor gear is still present in the collection, including a fisherman-inspired collared utility shirt and matching pants, as well as a white shell jacket and pants set with black paneling and “Anarcho-Mountaineers” branding. The iconic song “Bittersweet Symphony” by The Verve is also referenced in multiple pieces, such as a green sun visor with the song’s title on the headband and retro hiking graphics on graphic tees.
But that’s not all – Mountain Research also offers a range of mesh jerseys, including a “Holiday in the Mountains” jersey, a primary blue “Slide Away” jersey, and a yellow football-style “Mountain Hymns” jersey. The full SS25 collection will be available on the brand’s website starting Friday, January 17. Take a sneak peek at the gallery above to see the entire collection now.
