MM6 Maison Margiela Takes Over Florence’s Giardino dell’Orticoltura for Pitti Uomo 107
On Wednesday evening, the Giardino dell’Orticoltura in Florence was transformed into a dreamy MM6 Maison Margiela wonderland for Pitti Uomo 107. The botanical garden, known for its antique greenhouse and horticultural library, was the perfect backdrop for the French diffusion label’s Fall/Winter 2025 collection.
The conservatory, usually dark and serene, was now glowing with bright white lights and staff dressed in matching uniforms. Inside, the walls were crisp and white, with tables serving refreshments that were just as blank. The whole atmosphere was reminiscent of Maison Martin Margiela’s iconic “white-out” show at Pitti Uomo in 2006, where the designer painted the Teatro Piccini in matte white and even dyed the flags to match.
But while MM6’s venue paid homage to the past, their collection was a bold departure from the all-white aesthetic. Instead, the menswear line featured an array of black hues, from deep burgundy to shiny gaffer tape. Models strutted around the glass house, showcasing the brand’s focus on tailoring and sensuality. Prints of stars adorned the garments, while faux mink and lurex added a touch of femininity. Masculine elements like modular gloves and motorcycle helmets were also present, along with pagoda shoulders inspired by jazz legend Miles Davis’ wardrobe. And let’s not forget the standout aqua suit that demanded attention.
This was MM6 Maison Margiela’s modern menswear manifesto, blurring the lines between subject and object of desire. It’s a collection that proves fashion is anything but black and white. Take a look at the Fall/Winter 2025 collection in the gallery above.
