The Sukajan Jacket: A Japanese Fashion Staple
The Sukajan Jacket, also known as the Souvenir Jacket, has been a must-have in Japanese fashion since its debut in post-World War II Japan. And now, some of the biggest names in streetwear are putting their own spin on this vintage bomber jacket.
BEAMS and Tailor Toyo, the original manufacturer of Sukajan jackets, have been teaming up year after year to give the iconic silhouette a fresh new look. And this year is no exception.
Introducing the latest installment of their collaborative Sukajan series: a reversible, silky jacket that pays homage to Japan’s four seasons. Made from a Sukajan jacket from the 1950s, this piece is a true work of art.
One side of the jacket features a stunning “Spring” design, with intricate floral embroidery and a Maiko (traditional Japanese dancer) standing by a bridge surrounded by blooming cherry blossoms. On the other side, you’ll find a “Winter” scene, with the Maiko standing under an umbrella as snow falls around her.
Complete with cuffed sleeves and a waistband, this jacket is a must-have for any fashion-forward individual. Keep an eye out for its release on January 2, 2025. Trust us, you won’t want to miss out on this one.
