Norwegian Techwear Specialist Helly Hansen Collaborates with DESCENDANT for “FIBERPILE® COLLECTION”
Helly Hansen, the renowned Norwegian techwear brand, has joined forces with DESCENDANT, the brainchild of designer Toru Nishiyama, to create a dynamic capsule collection. Dubbed the “FIBERPILE® COLLECTION,” this collaboration offers a versatile range of pieces that seamlessly transition from city life to outdoor adventures.
The lineup includes a variety of items such as hooded jackets, scarves, mittens, and an ear flap cap, all made from Helly Hansen’s signature FIBERPILE® fabric. Originally developed for sailors and fishermen to withstand the harsh Norwegian winters, this fabric is both durable and functional.
Inspired by Mexican Serape blankets, the collection incorporates aesthetic elements that resonate with DESCENDANT’s design philosophy. But beyond just style, this collaboration also emphasizes the importance of truly understanding and utilizing an object to fully appreciate its value.
Nishiyama himself exemplifies this concept by using a fly fishing chest pack to store his children’s belongings while skiing. This practical application transforms a simple tool into a personal and essential item. This philosophy is woven throughout the entire collection, encouraging users to explore the versatility of each piece.
