Harrods’ Holiday Takeover: Loro Piana Celebrates 100 Years of Luxury
As winter approaches, Harrods is once again transformed into a wonderland of holiday displays, decorations, and endless gift options. But this year, the iconic British department store is breaking tradition with a special takeover by luxury label Loro Piana in honor of its 100th anniversary.
Dubbed the “Workshop of Wonders,” the takeover extends beyond the store’s walls, with installations and pop-ups throughout the building. The decorations and displays pay homage to Loro Piana’s heritage of craftsmanship, showcasing the journey of their garments and accessories in a festive and stylish manner. The takeover will be on display until January 2, and Hypebeast was on the scene to check it out.
Starting at the recognizable Brompton Road facade, visitors are greeted by towering bales of fiber surrounding a glowing Christmas tree. The 36 windows on the ground floor offer a glimpse into the brand’s material production, highlighting Vicuña from South America, Merino wool from Australia and New Zealand, Cashmere from Mongolia, and Pecora Nera® from New Zealand. The central window features a display of the brand’s factory and a rotating globe, tying everything together.
Moving inside, the storytelling continues at the “Door 6” and “Door 9” pop-ups on the ground floor. “Door 6” is dedicated to luxurious woolen goods, including alpaca figurines, hats, and scarves, with the option for in-store monogramming. “Door 9” is filled with artisanal ornaments, making it the go-to destination for fine holiday accessories. Throughout December, Harrods will also be hosting workshops for visitors to create their own cashmere decorations.
But the Loro Piana takeover doesn’t end with the holiday season. The brand will be opening two new boutiques in Harrods, one for kids and one for their home collection. And a special collection of Loro Piana products, developed exclusively for Harrods, will continue to be available in the new year as a symbol of the ongoing partnership between the two brands.
