Denim Tears Teams Up with The Met for “Knowbody Nose” Capsule Collection
Fresh off the success of its Cactus Plant Flea Market collaboration, Denim Tears, the brainchild of Tremaine Emory, has once again joined forces with a major institution – this time, the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The result? A limited edition capsule collection inspired by The Met’s latest exhibition, Flight Into Egypt: Black Artists and Ancient Egypt, 1876-Now.
The collection, aptly named “Knowbody Nose,” draws inspiration from the exhibition’s themes, particularly the mythology surrounding The Great Sphinx’s missing nose. Emory’s artistic illustrations bring this ancient tale to life, adorning a range of graphic ready-to-wear pieces and accessories.
The lineup includes sweatshirts, T-shirts, and tote bags, all featuring Emory’s original artwork. Each piece is guided by the question, “How does an artifact from Egypt, or anywhere from the ancient world, end up miles away in a museum in a major metropolitan city?” A hat with The Met’s title emblazoned on the brim, surrounded by Denim Tears and The Met iconography, completes the collection.
The collaboration is a perfect match, as The Met’s exhibition, set to open on November 17, will also feature pieces from Denim Tears’ previous collaboration with Levi’s – the Season Three Fall 2023 collection, including Tracy’s iconic King Tut black leather vest and belt.
The Denim Tears x The Met “Knowbody Nose” capsule collection is now available to shop on Denim Tears’ webstore, as well as at Africa Diaspora Goods and The Met Fifth Avenue.
