MM6 Maison Margiela and Salomon Team Up for a Bold New Hybrid Silhouette
French fashion label MM6 Maison Margiela and footwear brand Salomon have joined forces once again to create a unique and eye-catching new shoe. The XT-Mary J combines Salomon’s high-performance expertise with MM6 Maison Margiela’s subversive design perspective, resulting in a one-of-a-kind hybrid silhouette.
The XT-Mary J takes inspiration from Salomon’s XT-4 trail running shoe, incorporating its chunky athletic outsoles and lugged traction. However, the shoe also features a traditional Mary Jane style, with a low-profile carbon fiber overlay and a deeply scooped opening secured by a velcro strap. Salomon’s silver word mark is prominently displayed on the overlays, while MM6’s numerical graphics are subtly embossed on the strap and printed on the toe caps.
The shoe comes in two contrasting colorways – a minimal black and blue with tonal accents, and a bold gradient from teal to coral with pops of hot pink and acid green. This balance of colors adds to the overall aesthetic of the shoe, which manages to blend Salomon’s tactical edge with the delicate and formal style of a Mary Jane.
While Mary Janes are typically associated with womenswear, the XT-Mary J is designed with inclusivity in mind for people of all genders. This is just the latest collaboration between MM6 Maison Margiela and Salomon, following the release of the XT-4 Mule slip-on clogs and the XT 15 Cross Mids.
The XT-Mary J will be available on October 17 at both brands’ in-store and online shops, as well as select stockists. Don’t miss your chance to snag this unique and stylish hybrid silhouette.
