Les Benjamins Unveils Bold Fall/Winter 2024 Collection Infused with Punk Spirit
In a bold move, Les Benjamins has unveiled its highly anticipated Fall/Winter 2024 collection, showcasing the Istanbul-based label’s first foray into the world of music-inspired designs. With a strong focus on punk culture, the extensive range is a statement-making collection that pays homage to the roots of Turkish music and fashion.
According to creative director Bünyamin Aydin, the collection was born out of a desire to reconnect with the origins of music genres in his hometown. He explains, “Once you reconnect with your roots and the origins of how music genres started in your hometown, only then can you continue building new movements. I wanted to reintroduce these Turkish cultural treasures to the youth.”
To celebrate the “cultural treasures” of Turkey’s punk scene, Aydin drew inspiration from ’70s musician Tünay Akdeniz. Known for his unique Eastern punk attitude, Akdeniz’s music and style served as the main influence for the FW24 collection. The range features oversized and baggy silhouettes, taking cues from Akdeniz’s wardrobe and classic punk aesthetics.
Standout pieces in the collection include a winter-ready bomber jacket with drop shoulders and off-the-cuff sleeves, a zip-up hoodie with a spiked hood and a gaping cut, and a kilt with traditional Turkish patterns for a mismatched paneled look. The collection also includes distressed denim jeans, red leather jackets, and more formal pieces adorned with hardware and screen-printed designs.
One of the most eye-catching pieces is the longline blazer jacket, which showcases a rebellious makeover with a Persian carpet-style print, studs on the collars, and loose red threads hanging from the chest. According to womenswear design director Lamia Al-Otaishan Aydin, the collection is designed to be worn by both fashion and music rebels. She says, “Our focus is on creating pieces that can be enjoyed by all genders, and there’s nothing more rewarding than being able to share our rich underground music community with the world.”
