Alessandro Michele Takes Over Valentino at Paris Fashion Week

After a long two years, fashion designer Alessandro Michele made a triumphant return to the runway on Sunday. Swapping his Gucci keys for Valentino’s, Michele debuted his first show for the Italian fashion house at Paris’ Porte de Chatillon. The front row was filled with A-list celebrities such as Harry Styles, Elton John, and Jared Leto, while the fashion industry eagerly awaited to see how Michele would interpret Valentino’s iconic codes.

In a collection of 85 looks (a condensed version of his 171-piece Resort collection from June), Michele breathed new life into Valentino’s archives, specifically those from the ’60s, ’70s, and ’80s. He expertly modernized these pieces for the present day, with tuxedo jackets fit for a royal ball, regal ruffled gowns, and eye-catching pearly men’s tops. The lineup also featured decorative bowties, feather-filled hats, and ornamental crystals, adding a touch of extravagance to the collection.

Each look stood out on its own, showcasing Michele’s eclectic and bold mix of colors and prints. But together, they created a whole new world of Valentino, filled with aristocratic, posh, tantalizing, and intimidating characters. The collection was a perfect blend of regency fashion and contemporary edge, with a timeless appeal that earned Michele a standing ovation.
