VETEMENTS’ Spring 2025 Runway: Bold, Fearless, and Famous
The highly anticipated VETEMENTS Spring 2025 runway show did not disappoint. With a star-studded lineup and a bold theme, designer Guram Gvasalia proved that he is not one to shy away from making a statement.
Travis Scott Opens the Show, Gigi Hadid and More Follow Suit
The show kicked off with a bang as Travis Scott took the stage, followed closely by fashion icons Gigi Hadid, Destroy Lonely, Heidi Klum, and Law Roach. Front row guests included J Balvin, Normani, and Ice Spice, while ‘Desperate Housewives’ star Marcia Cross closed the catwalk.
“Time To Clean Up The Mess” – A Bold Message
The show, titled “Time To Clean Up The Mess,” was held in a semi-abandoned Parisian mall, setting the tone for the collection. Guests were greeted with a massive pile of colorful deadstock clothing at the entrance, providing context for the world in which Guram’s new collection resides.
“It speaks to a future where consumers no longer have the desire, or the means, to participate in relentless luxury consumption. Instead, they adopt a DIY mindset, creating unique, conceptual pieces from what remains,” explained the designer in his notes.
Deconstructing and Reassembling for a New Look
The collection showcased Guram’s signature cheeky and quirky style, with a focus on deconstructing and reassembling pieces that already exist in the modern world. From a dress made out of DHL’s signature red-yellow tape to a gown featuring a scandalous issue of The Sun, the pieces were a playful take on today’s consumerism.
Embracing Imperfection and Unfinished Design Codes
Guram’s collection also made a statement against luxury fashion’s overproduction, with big-shouldered formals, baggy denim trousers, bulky leather coats, and dark, drama-filled gowns embracing imperfect, unpolished, and unfinished design codes.
A Brave Fashionphile’s Dream Wardrobe
The line defined VETEMENTS’ contemporary muse – a brave fashionphile who enjoys causing a ruckus with bold style choices, often with a do-it-yourself touch. “The true power of VETEMENTS has always been the feeling of belonging – a sense that you can be a VETEMENTS person without ever buying a single piece,” read Guram’s notes.
For those who may not be able to afford the brand’s high price tags, Guram encourages them to recreate the looks with items they already have in their closet. “You can still feel part of the conversation and never feel excluded or abandoned,” he added.
A Unique Fashion Blueprint for the World to Dupe
Despite some critics calling the collection a Balenciaga lookalike, Guram aims to build his own fashion blueprint for the world to dupe. The Spring/Summer 2025 collection showcased a range of bold and fearless looks, solidifying VETEMENTS’ place as a trendsetter in the fashion world.
