Acne Studios Unveils SS25 Collection in Collaboration with Philadelphia Artist Jonathan Lyndon Chase
Acne Studios has once again pushed the boundaries of fashion with its latest SS25 collection, presented in a stark white room adorned with vibrant sculptures created by Philadelphia artist Jonathan Lyndon Chase. The artist’s statement about “comfortability and vulnerability” and living unapologetically in one’s space perfectly encapsulates the ethos of the collection.
The show opened with a simple yet striking beige ensemble, showcasing the use of lightweight skin-toned fabrics to evoke a sense of bareness. But the collection quickly took a turn towards the surreal, with puffed-up tailoring and reptilian embossing on a gray two-piece suit. The use of sculpted full-bodied jeans and skirts, as well as structured leather sets, added to the overall sense of magnification and expansion of form.
As the show progressed, chunky knits and oversized checks appeared, giving the impression of being digitally enlarged to a larger-than-life scale. Some looks even featured exaggerated busts and shoulder straps, reminiscent of paper doll dress-up books. The show closed with pieces embellished with matching knotted scraps, recalling the distressed woolen knits seen earlier in the collection.
The overall presentation was a playful nod to childhood, with an untamed use of patterns and asymmetrical styling that gave the models a rushed, make-shift gown look. This, along with the artist’s painted furniture and decor scattered throughout the room, speaks to the idea of personal objects becoming imbued with human identity.
Bringing a touch of childhood nostalgia to Paris Fashion Week, the Acne Studios SS25 collection is a sincere celebration of uncompromising self-expression. Check out the full collection in the gallery above and stay tuned for more coverage of Paris Fashion Week on Hypebeast.
