When the iconic Half Cab sneaker from Vans leaked in a Parra x OTW collaboration on Go Skateboarding Day, fans were buzzing with excitement. Rumors quickly spread that the colorful design would be hitting shelves before the end of the year. And now, we can confirm that the rumors were partially true. While the friends and family version shown on Go Skateboarding Day won’t be available to the public, a general release pair has been revealed.
Both versions feature Parra’s signature wavy brushwork, but the colorblocking is where they differ. The friends and family pair had a heavy use of grey, while the general release pair is bursting with Parra’s famous mix of vibrant oranges, greens, blues, reds, and pinks. As the founder of the eponymous brand, artist Piet Parra explained in a past interview, “I like the poppy colors, like the oranges, blues and pinks. This is the palette that makes me happy.”
In addition to the eye-catching design, the Parra x OTW by Vans Half Cab also features custom tongue and collar labels, crisp eggshell midsoles, and white laces. While retailer Sivasdescalzo has listed a release date of September 23, 2024, this has yet to be confirmed by Parra or Vans. When the shoe does hit shelves, it will be priced at $160 USD.
