In Celebration of 40 Years, Porter Lands at Packer for an ALL NEW TANKER Pop-Up

Japanese brand Porter is celebrating its 40th anniversary in style with a new pop-up at NJ-based retailer Packer. The temporary shop-in-shop features the brand’s iconic Tanker line, but with a twist – all made from sustainable materials like plant-based nylon.

The Tanker collection, originally launched in 1983, was heavily influenced by the US Air Force uniform. The signature messenger-style bag was crafted from nylon, mimicking the MA-1 flight jackets worn by pilots. Now, for the first time, Porter is using a plant-based nylon derived from corn and castor oil in their mass line.

Partnering with their long-time craftsmen at Komaxon, Porter has created new bold shades of Iron Blue and Olive Green for the collection, which are available in over 40 different styles. The Japanese dye house has perfected a meticulous color matching process, relying on the expertise of skilled color specialists.

The collaboration with Packer, a retailer with over a century of history in Yonkers, NY, pays homage to Porter’s heritage and the long-standing creative exchange between Japanese and American brands. The ALL NEW TANKER collection is now available at Packer, with the pop-up running until October 5th at their flagship store in Teaneck, NJ.
