Daniel Lee’s Bold Takeover at Burberry

Since taking the reins at Burberry, Daniel Lee has been on a mission to redefine the iconic British fashion house. With his sophisticated and elegant designs, Lee has brought a fresh perspective to the brand, introducing new signature colors and elevating staple pieces. And for Summer 2025, he surprised us all by unleashing his wild side, taking Burberry’s runway show to a new venue at London’s National Theatre.

Collaborating with UK artist Gary Hume, Burberry’s Summer 2025 collection was brought to life with a stunning art installation inspired by Hume’s 1990 work, Bays. The space was transformed with green cutout fabrics, reminiscent of modernist hospital doors.

Lee’s collection showcased a mix of classic pieces with a modern twist, exuding a sense of freedom and camaraderie. Soft grays and reconstructed silhouettes were key elements, with buckled trench coats cinched at the waist and formal utility dresses featuring militaristic details. Enlarged fur trimmings added a touch of luxury to outerwear, perfect for London’s brisk weather.

But it wasn’t all about practicality – voluminous ponchos and tailored pleated trousers added a touch of drama, while checkered uniforms and nautical gear were accessorized with striped scarves and new Country crossbody bags. Shimmering gowns were layered with monstrous parkas, creating a bold and stylish look for the colder months.

Lee also introduced rare graphics and abstract patterns, reflecting Hume’s paintings, in his designs. Cargo gear with strapped chest pockets added a touch of edginess, while mesh polos, embroidered blazers, and printed belts injected a casual touch to the collection.
