Boy Better Know Rapper Skepta Shuts Down London Fashion Week with MAINS Runway Show
Chief designer Mikey Pearce and graphic designer Johnson Orchid joined forces with Skepta to bring MAINS University to life at London Fashion Week. The event was attended by UK a-listers Central Cee, Gabriel Moses, and Mahalia.
The venue, 80 Vincent Square, was transformed into a collegiate setting with sticker-stamped lockers and university flags adorning the dome-shaped structure. The collection, featuring 27 men’s and womenswear looks, stayed true to Skepta’s signature style with a focus on unisex lines.
Social media teasers gave a glimpse of what was to come, including long-haired wigs, pocketed handbags, and MAINS-branded neckties. The collection also featured a collaboration with Kickers, with furry footwear making an appearance.
The show kicked off with a bang as models rushed down the cement flooring in a graphic double-breasted suit adorned with school supplies. Skepta’s oversized style was on full display with sheer button-downs and leather wrestling shorts, while MAINS university logos added a scholastic touch to exaggerated blazers and pleated culottes.
The collection also featured embroidered bomber jackets, USA flag sweater vests, and bodybuilding characters on slashed t-shirts. Leopard and camouflage prints were seen throughout the range, adorning accessories such as slim neckties, pocket squares, and headgear. Color-blocked school bags, leather gloves, and floral wreath-printed caps completed the look.
The highly-anticipated MAINS x Kickers collaboration was officially debuted at the show, featuring old-school leather boots with yellow gum soles in red, black, and brown colorways.
