Jony Ive Unveils First Clothing Design in Collaboration with Moncler

Jony Ive, the mastermind behind the iconic designs of the iPod, iPhone, and more during his time at Apple, has finally revealed his first-ever clothing design. In partnership with Moncler, Ive’s creation, named “LoveFrom, Moncler,” is a modular, 3-in-1 jacket that promises a smooth and versatile user experience.

The base layer of the system is a long-sleeve down vest, with three different shell options including a chore coat, a parka, and a hooded poncho. Each piece is made from a single uncut piece of recycled nylon and is carefully constructed to be seamless. The preview images showcase soft and familiar colors, such as peach pink, baby blue, and canary, reminiscent of the pastels introduced in Ive’s iOS 7 interface rehaul in 2013.

But it’s not just the versatility that sets this jacket apart. The proprietary “Duo” buttons, a joint invention by Moncler and Ive, allow for smooth transitions between each layer. These buttons also ensure a snug fit for each outer layer over the base. The outer components feature metal eyelets that magnetically attach to the buttons on the first layer, providing a satisfying click with each button closure. This sound was carefully crafted through an 18-month research process to find the perfect metal alloy.

Ive has been a design leader at Apple since 1996, establishing the sleek and modern aesthetic that has become synonymous with the brand. His earlier designs, such as the 1999 iBook G3 and the 1998 iMac, are considered landmarks of Y2K design and have remained popular for years. After leaving Apple, Ive founded LoveFrom and has worked with a diverse range of clients, including audio equipment pioneer Linn and the Royal Family.

The LoveFrom, Moncler jacket will be available at Moncler stores on September 24 and online shortly after. Don’t miss your chance to experience the gratifying sensory experience and sleek design of this highly-anticipated collaboration.
