Bonded by Disruptive Spirits: Palace and Vivienne Westwood Team Up for First Collaborative Collection
Two iconic British brands, Palace and Vivienne Westwood, have joined forces to create their first collaborative collection. The collection, which includes clothing, accessories, jewelry, and skateboards, pays homage to the distinctive house codes of both brands throughout history. Shot by Shoichi Aoki, founder of Japanese street style magazine FRUITS, the lookbook captures the disruptive spirit of the collaboration.
The legacy of both brands is evident in the collection, with Vivienne Westwood’s iconic “Salon” print from her Spring/Summer 1992 collection revived on GORE-TEX jackets, track pants, and skirts. The label’s early 1990s iconography is also featured on oversized teddy bear bags.
This collaboration also marks the first womenswear release for Palace, with a reimagined version of Vivienne Westwood’s classic corset as a standout piece. The corset, made from black and white satin, features a print of Palace founder Lev Tanju’s dog, Stuart. Vivienne Westwood’s Creative Director Andreas Kronthaler expressed his admiration for Palace, stating, “From the first day I went to Palace years ago, I liked what they were doing. Their designs are made with quality, they are accessible and democratic. It felt natural for us to join forces, it was a very playful exercise and it was a pleasure working with the team and making new friends.”
Speaking of new friends, the lookbook features a diverse cast including US rappers Sematary and Matt OX, model Sibyl Buck, and Palace rider Lucien Clarke. Palace co-founders Tanju and Gareth Skewis also shared their excitement for the collaboration, stating, “We love them, and we always have. To bring this collection to life was a dream come true and we wanted to shoot the collection in London, our shared home. Palace is independent, Vivienne Westwood is independent, and we admire independence.”
The collection will be available in stores and online on September 6th in the UK, Europe, and the US, and on September 7th in Japan, Korea, China, Hong Kong, and Singapore. This highly anticipated collaboration is a true reflection of the shared values and influences of both brands, with a uniquely London twist. Don’t miss your chance to snag a piece from this exciting collection.
