Last August, Amor Prohibido took the fashion world by storm with the release of its “Forever Yours” collection. This time, the brand is back with a new collection, “Dance in the Rain,” that expands its universe and embodies founder Bryan Escareño’s personal philosophy.
Embracing the brand’s roots in ’90s LA style and Escareño’s upbringing as a native Angelino, the “Dance in the Rain” collection features a range of relaxed-fit pieces, all handmade in Los Angeles. The collection includes weather-resistant waxed jackets and dresses, cut-and-sew sweatsuits in a “Horchata” tone inspired by Muscle Beach bodybuilders, and a moss green denim suit.
One of the key themes of the collection is the idea of embracing the unexpected and not trying to control everything. As Escareño explains, “The idea behind ‘Dance in the Rain’ is that you can’t control everything. You can plan a picnic, but you can’t control the weather.” This ethos is reflected in the collection’s versatile and free-flowing designs.
The color palette of the collection is also deeply personal to Escareño. The mix of green and grey seen throughout the pieces is inspired by his trips to his parents’ house, where he finds solace from the chaos of the city. The colors represent the transition from the hot concrete sidewalks of LA to the peaceful green lawns of the suburbs.
The “Dance in the Rain” collection will be available on Amor Prohibido’s webstore on August 30 at 12 PM PT. For those in Los Angeles, the brand is offering in-studio appointments for trying on pieces. Simply DM them on Instagram to schedule an appointment. Don’t miss out on this unique and personal collection that celebrates the beauty of embracing the unexpected.
