Studio Nicholson and Paraboot Team Up for Luxurious Michael Derby Shoe
Studio Nicholson and Paraboot have joined forces once again to bring a new level of sophistication to the classic French shoemaker’s Michael derby shoe. This collaboration, which follows their successful first partnership, elevates the iconic silhouette with high-quality materials and expert craftsmanship.
Originally designed in the aftermath of WWII, Paraboot’s Michael derby shoe is known for its simple yet efficient design, featuring only two eyelets and a strong leather and rubber construction. Fast forward to 2024, and the Studio Nicholson Michael is handcrafted by Paraboot’s skilled artisans in their small-run factory, ensuring top-notch quality.
The collaborators made a conscious decision to use grained deerskin for the uppers, giving the shoe a luxurious touch. The soft inner lining is made of fine sheepskin, adding to the overall comfort and elegance of the shoe.
When asked about the unique material choice, Studio Nicholson’s creative director Nick Wakeman shared, “I discovered this particular deerskin which is so special not only because of its beautiful glossy grain, but also because it is incredibly durable.”
The handcrafted feel of the shoe is further amplified by the Norwegian-style welt stitching, while the duo-tone hiking laces add a stylish touch to the rich ganache-hued deer leather makeup. A subtle cobranding appears on a green tab peeking out from the lateral collar, and the durable uppers rest upon Paraboot’s classic French rubber lug sole.
The Studio Nicholson x Paraboot Michael shoe is now available at Studio Nicholson’s web store and retail locations in London, Tokyo, and Seoul, as well as select stockists.
