Junya Watanabe MAN and Reigning Champ Team Up for Limited Edition Collection
Japanese designer Junya Watanabe MAN and Canadian brand Reigning Champ have joined forces once again to release a special set of Midweight Terry hoodies and pants. The collection draws inspiration from Watanabe’s Spring Summer 2025 show in Paris, featuring tartan and corduroy patches and abstract stitching inspired by the Japanese sashiko mending tradition.
The collaboration between the two brands is a recurring one, with a focus on Watanabe’s deconstruction techniques. The pieces are made from Reigning Champ’s Midweight Terry fabric, perfect for the hot and humid summer months while also providing comfort in transitional seasons. The collection is available in Junya Watanabe’s Japanese sizing system, a departure from Reigning Champ’s typical sizing.
The standout feature of the collection is the overlapping patches, showcasing various check patterns and color-blocked panels. The hoodie and pants both feature different placements of the patches, with the hoodie focusing on the torso and the pants on the knees. The abstract black stitching adds a unique touch, paying homage to the Japanese sashiko tradition of visible mending.
The limited edition collection also includes other fine details from Watanabe’s original collection, such as patchworked tailoring and hybrid denim jackets. The collection is now available for purchase on the official Reigning Champ webstore.
