Sperry Celebrates 90th Anniversary with Special “Japan Made” Edition of Classic CVO

As Sperry marks its 90th year in the shoe game, the iconic American brand is pulling out all the stops with a limited-edition release exclusively for its Japanese market. The Classic CVO Japan Original is a reimagined version of the beloved silhouette, once worn by US President John F. Kennedy and the official shoe of the US Navy.

Crafted with the meticulous attention to detail that Japanese design is known for, the Classic CVO Japan Original is made from carefully selected Japanese materials. But what sets this edition apart is the expanded toe, adding an extra .5 cm for a sharper and more elegant look. And for a comfortable fit tailored to the Asian foot shape, the model will only be available in Japan.

But the updates don’t stop there. The shoe also features a limited-edition Mount Fuji logo, paying homage to Japan’s iconic landmark. And staying true to its roots, the outsole is made with “RUBEAR NR” technology, using domestic rubber for maximum grip.

Sperry has been making waves in the global market, with a particular focus on Japan. And it’s no surprise, as the country has a strong affinity for American traditional style and prep fashion. By releasing this special edition, Sperry is embracing the cultural design dialogue between the two countries.

This isn’t the first time Sperry has collaborated with Japanese brands. In fact, they recently teamed up with NYC-boutique Colbo for a leather boat shoe and released a capsule collection of CVO sneakers with popular Japanese brand BEAMS PLUS.

The Classic CVO Japan Original will be available in two drops. The canvas models in White and Navy will be released on July 31, while the suede editions in Navy, Cocoa brown, and Off-White will drop on August 28. Don’t miss your chance to snag a piece of Sperry’s 90-year legacy with this special edition release.
